This paper proposes a method for fabric defect detection based on Gabor Filter. Gabor Filter is widely used to extract features from images for texture segmentation. The proposed scheme is divided into two parts, namely the training part and the defect detection part. In the training part, a non-defective fabric image is used as a template image, and a finite set of multi-level Gabor wavelets are tuned to match the texture information of the image. In the defect detection part, filtered images from different levels are fused together and the constructed detection scheme is used to detect defects in fabric sample images with the same texture background as that of the template image.

In this paper the microstripultra wideband (UWB) Stepped Impedance Resonator band pass filter is designed with the coupled defected ground structure (CDGS) by etching Hilbert fractal space filling curve slot on the ground plane and series capacitive gap in the conductor strip.Hilbert curve is realized on the ground plane in the form of a slot of width 0.2 mm. The three iterations of the fractal geometry were realized on a ground plane of the stepped impedance resonator. The proposed structure can operate at very wide band and by increasing the number of iterations filer structure can operate at dual wide band filter. The filter has a planar geometry printed on a dielectric substrate Rogers5880 of dielectric constant 2.2. The filter is simulated using the simulation tools based on Finite Element Method and Finite Integration Technique. This filter has number of advantages like simple and compact structure, Low Profile,High selectivity and low cost.

In this paper new CPW-fed fractal planar antenna is proposed for WiFi/WLAN and WiMAX applications. The antenna Geometry is created from simple rectangular patch by using fractal concept. The designed antenna cover two bands of 2GHz-4.1GHz and 5.1GHz.-5.5GHz with compact size of 45mm×34mm on FR4 substrate of dielectric constant Ɛr=4.3.Antenna is simulated using CST microwave studio.

Black boxes are generally associated with airplanes but they are no longer just the key tool in investigation of airplane accidents. They are slowly gaining importance in investigations of car accidents. Our system is majorly a black box that simultaneously transmits the data to a remote location off the vehicle. This system is one step ahead as it also transmits the data using a GSM module. It can track the health trend of the unit. This device records several key actions made before the mishap including engine torque, acceleration, turning, etc on the targeted PC. It can also provide the exact location of the vehicle using GPS.The MCU (LPC2148) retrieves data from the sensors, displays it and sends the data through a text message using Sim900 GSM Module. The message is received by SIM at base station, which is connected to the main computer. Once the data is stored on the CPU, the MATLab GUI is used process the data.Status of vehicles employed in search-&-rescue operations is vital. Such situations can be catered to by our system.Investigation & prevention of accidents is immensely simplified.Management of a large number of units is made possible through a computer. Thus, this system provides cost effective and highly efficient solution to road safety and regulation.

Electricity expenditure comprises a significant fraction of the total monthly budget in our houses/flats. Hence, we have to reduce electricity cost as much as possible. These days, it’s not really about efficiency. Energy-efficient appliances have helped reduce overall electricity demand, but a big problem remains. Many people get out of bed, leave for work and return home to a no. of appliances switched on which they forgot to switch off before leaving, realizing they wasted electricity.Imagine the user is very tired and do not want to get up to switch on a fan/ac. So the user can this mobile phone application to do so. Or suppose the user forgot to switch off the PC at home and suddenly remember it in the car while the user is driving to the office. This mobile application shows you which unnecessary appliances are on and so you are able to switch them off sitting in the car itself. We have optimized the use of tube lights, fans and other appliances using a simple android application in mobile phones.

To measure the distance of an object from a known point without having any physical contact. Lasers can be used in various ways to measure distances or displacements without physical contact. In fact they allow most sensitive and precise length measurements, extremely fast recordings (sometimes with a bandwidth of many megahertz), and the largest measurement ranges. These qualities are usually not combined in a single technique. Depending on the specific demands, very different technical approaches can be appropriate. They find a wide range of applications, for example in architecture, inspection of fabrication halls, criminal scene investigation(CSI) and military.

The paper present the investigation on the effect of temperature, time and current density on surface roughness and material removal rate in electropolishing process on 316L stainless steel. The cathode material under study was 316L stainless steel. The electrolyte was composed of sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and DI water. Full factorial design method was used. ANNOVA technique has been used to assess the quantitative influence of the different process factors of the EP. The surface roughness will be obtained up to 0.03 µm in this experiment whose surface roughness before electropolishing is 0.17 µm hence surface roughness reduction is 0.14 µm. MRR will be 0.0278 gm/min.

The automatic detection of commercials is very useful in TV video analysis and has multiple potential applications. Commercials play an effective role in our lives, and the people’s living and working habits are affected by them. Some viewers may want to record TV programs and skip the commercials using digital video recorder. Companies may want to monitor broadcast time of their commercials and push their commercials to suitable customers. Commercial detection is also an important step of commercial management which is an emerging technology. High shot change frequency and “still” shots of the trademark information, which are two basic characteristics of TV commercial, are exploited to distinguish commercials from general programs. Our commercial retrieval system based on shot change and text detection is realized through a slide window. First, histogram difference is computed on consecutive images and then the four common shot transitions including cut, dissolve, fade in/out and wipe are detected. Our text detection algorithm based on maximum gradient difference, allows fast filtering of scan lines without text. A commercial is determined either if its shot change frequency is satisfied or if its trademark information is detected. Performance evaluation shows that our algorithm performs well with relatively high detection accuracy for different kinds of programs when we involved the text detection, which is an important contribution of this paper.

Dental composites are tooth coloured restorative material used by dentists for various application. Restoration of a lost tooth structure requires a material having mechanical as well as aesthetic properties similar to that of the tooth. This posses challenges to engineers and the dentist alike. Dental composites consist of a matrix and a dispersed phase called filler, which is mainly responsible for its mechanical properties. Most commonly used matrix is Bis-Gma and TEGMA. Silica and glass are conventional fillers used in the past. Recently, zirconia is used due to its improved mechanical properties. A study was conducted by us to evaluate the contribution of zirconia in the mechanical properties in general and hardness in particular. We have attempted to make an experimental dental composite with a conglomerate of nanofillers namely zirconia, glass and silica and optimise this filler volume percentage and obtain an optimum hardness for the experimental dental composite. 56-61
